RAFTING
Exciting rapids, breath taking scenery, and varied wildlife combine to make the Gunnison Gorge section of the Gunnison River the premier whitewater rafting trip in Southwest Colorado . This 14 mile stretch of challenging whitewater is dotted with numerous class ll-lll+ rapids. This is a wilderness trip where encounters with other people are limited and conversely sightings of interesting wildlife (bighorn sheep, river otters, mule deer, and eagles) are common. The steep canyon walls are one of the best examples of Precambrian rock and are a geology lesson deluxe. All trips begin with a van ride over a rough 4x4 road to the rim of the canyon. From there all guests and guides hike a moderate 1 mile trail down the Chukar Trail to the river while carrying their personal gear.
Season: Mid May through early October. Please call or e-mail for availability.
